more evaluations

1. The most memorable aspect of rehearsals held before the concert was the stress and frustration felt by everyone.   

2. The most memorable moments of the concert, for me came whenever we finished a song.  I always had this moment of sheer relief that we pulled the song together- somewhat miraculously and made it sound beautifully. 

 

3. After being a part of an ensemble for essentially my entire life, I believe that the pros outweigh the cons that arise from such work.  The most obvious positive aspects of working in an ensemble are the collaboration that everyone has to agree to execute in order for the musical number to be mastered, as well as the ability to take direction not only from the director, but also from other choir members.  The cons that I have seen are the frustration that can arise from not knowing the music or from refusing to listen to others. 

 

4. I could have shown up to more of the elongated practices and I could have worked more with my section in making sure that all of us knew our part and our rhythms with the different songs.  Additionally, I could have paid closed attention to the other section’s parts so that if someone was struggling, I could help them to better understand. 

 

5. If I was the director of SAIMARAC, I would have done more sectionals in an effort to make sure that everyone knew their parts and their rhythms.  I also would have done that exercise where one person from each section comes and sings part of a song while everyone else listens.  That exercise really helps me to gauge our sound section-by-section and as a collective body. 

 

6. I personally am used to having subtle cut-offs and other direction.  I do not always understand the direction that you give to us.  I do appreciate the direction that you give with regards to dynamics.  Those dynamics directions are quite easy to understand.

 

1. I remember having lots of fun and chatting a lot in the earlier rehearsals,
but then stressing out a lot about the music as we came closer to the concert.

2. I remember the ending of Hoj Hura Hoj. I loved the reverberating sound and
then the sudden silence

3.I think we did a lot of really difficult pieces which helped me grow as a
singer, but did not keep me as interested in the music in the beginning. I liked
that we did them but I think a few more fun pieces could keep both us and the
audience entertained better. (But fun pieces can have complex harmonies too!)

4.I could have worked harder in the beginning and not waited so long

5. Working on only one or two pieces each class period helps me to memorize
them easier rather than a little bit each  day. I think that could minimize
memorization stress.

6. Maybe we could decide earlier in the process if we are coming in when you
bring us in or if we are counting, because I think that caused some issues in
our last set of songs. Other than that though I think it is more of what we need
to do to adjust to your style of conducting.

1. I remember a lot of talking and noise. There was not a lot of team work.

2. I thought it was really cool after Hoj! hura Hoj!. I felt really good!

3. I love working with an ensemble because it is a challenge for me to work with harmonies.

4. I could have started working on my music earlier. It would have made it a lot easier.

5. I would take each rehearsal and do one song per rehearsal. I work better that way...focused on one song at a time.

6. I think it's more me becoming adjusted to you conducting and learning to follow you.
